When Durability, Consistency, and Longevity Count, Trust CORDURA® and TVF

Jul 3, 2024 | News

For decades, the name CORDURA® has been synonymous with durability and resilience to tears, scuffs, and abrasion. If you’ve manufactured anything with CORDURA® advanced fabrics in the past, you may also understand their tremendous reputation, production consistency, and brand recognition that drive your customers or end-users to ask for it by name.

CORDURA® offers textiles engineered to stand up to work and adventure. It’s a mainstay for high-performing activewear, bags and packs, footwear, gear, leisurewear, military and tactical, motorcycle, outdoor, workwear, and more. CORDURA® fabric’s appeal, range, and ruggedness has grown since its debut in 1967 when it started with workwear. Through the years, CORDURA® is now a mainstay for everything from the great outdoors and extreme sports to fashion to defense and tactical gear.

Not every product makes the CORDURA® cut. In order for clothing or gear made with the high-performance material to be permitted to bear a CORDURA® hangtag or brand approval, the company puts it through the paces of rigorous certification and testing. Customers know the difference between CORDURA® and other fabrics, and durability matters.

TVF is a trusted supplier and expert on CORDURA®, and carries a range of CORDURA® fabric options, including 500 Denier CORDURA® Classic, CORDURA® HP, CORDURA® TrueLock™, and 1000 Denier CORDURA® Classic. Our options are many and the expertise our sales team demonstrates will allow your applications to come to life.

Definitions of sustainability are all around. With CORDURA®, the emphasis is on its durability and long-lasting properties. Customers understand they might pay more for similar goods, but they realize the long-term savings will come from its performance over the long-haul. The brand’s website puts it this way: “Across windblown dunes, through dense forests and up the highest peaks, CORDURA® Advanced Fabrics have been taken to the limits by adventurers who push their own. Our fabrics continue to perform, time and again, while offering the kind of coverage and protection that people have come to count on.”

Here are brief profiles of TVF’s CORDURA® offerings:

500 Denier CORDURA® Classic is urethane-coated, features a durable water repellent (DWR) finish, and is available in four colors (black, navy blue, red, and royal blue). It’s end-uses run the gamut from luggage and backpacks to sport and duffel bags to briefcases, purses, and wallets to horse blankets to custom cases and covers. This medium-weight textile is made with high-tenacity, jet textured nylon 6.6 filament yarns.

TVF carries CORDURA® HP, which is printable with dye sublimation paper transfer (dye sub) inks and available in three colors (black, white, and taupe). Its applications extend from the more common like backpacks, luggage, custom bags, and outdoor gear to equestrian products and pet accessories. As durable as customers expect, urethane-coated CORDURA® HP includes a DWR finish.

Consistency – in color and long-lasting performance – is key for CORDURA® TrueLock™ fabric. Like its other CORDURA® cousins, CORDURA® TrueLock™ has a DWR finish and is urethane coated, but it’s made through processes that require less water, energy, and carbon emissions to give it a smaller eco-footprint for manufacturing military and tactical gear, workwear and boots, bags and cases, luggage, and outdoor accessories.

1000 Denier CORDURA® Classic is also part of TVF’s CORDURA® lineup. It comes in 30 color options and is urethane coated and made with a DWR finish. This heavy duty option is created with high-tenacity, air-jet-textured, 6.6 filament nylon yarns and great for uses like outdoor and military gear, luggage, duffel bags, backpacks, and briefcases… even upholstery, pet beds, and horse blankets.
