What is CPSIA and Why Does it Matter?

Peace of mind comes in many forms when products made for children are involved. To that end, TVF offers multiple fabrics that comply with the strict parameters of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA). Designed to ensure super low levels of lead allowed in the content of accessible parts and surface coatings of products intended for use by children, the law created rigorous testing and documentation requirements for companies that make apparel, shoes, home furnishings, bedding, school supplies, educational materials, and more.

TVF offers our 600 X 300 Denier, PVC Backed Polyester that meets the CPSIA standards, and is a polyester fabric in a myriad of colors that works well for bags, luggage, indoor covers, and custom cases. Our 18 oz. Vinyl Coated Polyester comes in a CPSIA compliant version that is available in a wide range of colors and is exceptional for uses like wall pads, gym mats, punching bags, inflatables, ball field covers, and swing set canopies.

In short, the CPSIA controls the amount of lead and phthalates allowed in materials that go into making children’s products. Have any questions or specific use cases involving textiles for children’s products? Reach out to our team or request samples.
